Gem State Classic Pro Rodeo is in the running for the 2023 Small Market Rodeo of the Year

The Gem State Classic Pro Rodeo, which took place at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot, Idaho, was recently recognized as one of the top 5 PRCA Small Market Rodeos for 2023. This is a great honor, considering there are nearly 500 eligible rodeos nationwide in this category. This award provides recognition from all contestants, sister rodeos, contracted personnel, livestock contractors, and Lifetime Members of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for being the best of the best of the current year. Everyone with a PRCA membership card can vote for their choices within select categories, and Small Market Rodeo is one of them. What an honor to be recognized by peers!

The Eastern Idaho State Fair team would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the Rodeo Committee for their selfless service in making this rodeo a grand success every year. Their dedication, passion, and love for the sport of rodeo and this event is noticed by the contestants and rodeo fans alike. When asked to describe this rodeo, fans and participants often say things like:

• The electricity of the crowd is unmatched.
• The best rodeo atmosphere.

In 2023, the Gem State Classic Pro Rodeo introduced a third night of the annual event, which received an overwhelming positiveresponse from everyone. Over the past few years, the event has undergone several improvements to enhance the experience of both the contestants and attendees alike. These improvements include upgrading the announcer booth, arena, and chutes, which helps draw in top contenders and World Champions to Blackfoot, Idaho. Since the Fair became a PRCA-sanctioned event in 2012 and appointed the award-winning Powder River Rodeo & D&H Cattle as their stock contractor, the Gem State Classic has been recognized and awarded for its outstanding performance year after year. The crowning glory came in 2019 when it won the prestigious PRCA Small Market Rodeo of the Year award.

The winner of the 2023 title will be announced in December. Until then, having a guaranteed spot in the top five is a great place to land.
