Mutton Bustin’

at the Gem State Classic Pro Rodeo

Monday, 9/4/2023 and Tuesday, 9/5/2023 at 6:30 p.m.

Mutton Bustin’ at the Eastern Idaho State Fair is an age-old tradition.  We are lucky to have Bingham Healthcare sponsor this event in 2023.

Mutton Bustin’, is one of the Gem State Classic Rodeo’s most popular events.  We are so excited to have Bingham Healthcare sponsor this event in 2023.  Youngsters between the ages of 4 and 7 and weight of under 45 lbs. are given a chance to ride a white wooley bugger.  Here’s a quick rundown of how it works.  A western clad contestant with a nice shiny helmet, provided by rodeo committee, is set on that buggers back.  Some of our Buster ride frontward, but there are a few of the more daring that hop on backwards.  They grab hold of fistfuls of wool and hold on tight.  Out pops those sheep from the chute and they are looking to discharge their load.  Each contestant is scored on their style, length of holding on, and of course athletic talent.  Whether it’s a one second or ten second ride, these youngsters are in for a wild, exciting and memorable time.
