Each year, the Eastern Idaho State Fair Board of Directors selects a Grand Marshal to represent the EISF at the Opening Day Parade. The Grand Marshal is selected for his or her lifetime service to the Eastern Idaho State Fair and/or the community. Nominees must be located in or affiliated with the 16 counties that comprise the EISF: Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Caribou, Clark, Custer, Franklin, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, Oneida, Power, and Teton.
Nominations are accepted throughout the year. Nominations forms must be turned in by May 15 for the nominee to be considered for that year’s fair. The Grand Marshal is announced in July annually.

The Fair always has an exciting closing with the yearly sell-out Demolition Derby! Combining classic cars with creative driving and mud, the Derby never disappoints the packed grandstand arena. There is only one rule for the Derby: keep moving . . . if you can. No matter how we say it, the Demolition Derby is still one of the most exciting events of the Fair.
Riding into town is the new PRCA sanctioned Gem State Classic that combines world-class competitors from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association with award winning stock from Powder River Rodeo and D&H Cattle.
Local youths have stayed busy this summer raising livestock and participating in various projects as part of the 4-H program. Now they are showing off their animals and projects for the chance to earn some ribbons and cash!
